Karakol Lake - one of the most attractive places of the Altai Mountains. The lakes are located in the upper reaches of Karakol river (tributary of the river Elikmanar) in the piedmont of the western slope of the ridge Iolgo. The absolute height of the bottom of the lake is 1820 m, the highest - 2097 m. Karakol lakes represent a system of 7 lakes connected by channels and streams and have a different color of water. Around the lake is located bizarre rock bands, some of them even have their own names, such as "Castle Mountain Spirits."

Day 1
Meeting in Barnaul / Gorno-Altaisk. Directions to the office of the travel agency and then to the village of Ulala (minibus 50 km). Followed by leaving to the route, gradually gaining height, deciduous trees and shrubs give way to a mighty cedar, descend to Karakol lakes. Accommodation in a house of cedar (35km snowmobile). The camp site is located on the largest, the fifth lake.
Day 2
Radial Karakokshinskoy to leave the cave. The first test - rise to the pass Bagatash (from the Altai language - "the stone frog", 2113 m). From the top of a magnificent view of the surrounding mountains. A little more and you will see heaps of boulders - it locks the mountain spirits, which in reality from afar resemble an ancient medieval castle. Such a creation of nature fanned by numerous legends. On this day, you still expect two passes - Akkaya and Airyk. In good weather you can make great pictures. From the pass, the trail descends into the tract Airyk, and you find yourself in the realm of pine forests. Karakokshinskaya Cave - one of the highest situated caves of Altai. The name of the cave comes from the river Karakoksha located in the rocky limestone ridge Iolgo array. The cave is characterized by a rare form of underground karst, which combines a large extent and the highest hypsometric position (above sea level) in the North-Eastern Altai. Inspection of the cave. Return to the camp (70 km snowmobile).
Day 3
Today is the final day. We go on the familiar road of Kylayskoy mane, the pass Karatas, away with. Ulala. Cedars give way to deciduous forest and low shrubs. After lunch, we go down to the place where we had a car waiting. Transfer to the office of the company, and further to Barnaul / Gorno-Altaisk *.
